Oilboy Energy Granted Extension for Financial Reporting and AGM

Lahore: The Commission has approved an extension for Oilboy Energy Limited, permitting the delayed convening of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the filing of its financial statements. The company now has until November 27, 2024, to hold its AGM for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, and until November 29, 2024, to file its first quarterly financial statements.

The extension, as detailed in a communication from October 4, 2024, follows a request by Oilboy Energy to postpone its AGM and the submission of its annual audited financial statements originally due for the year ending June 30, 2024. The company cited reasons related to logistical and administrative delays, which have also affected the timely filing of its quarterly financial statements for the period ending September 30, 2024.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), such extensions are not uncommon, particularly under circumstances that prevent timely compliance with financial reporting requirements. The Commission’s decision allows Oilboy Energy additional time to prepare and audit its financial results comprehensively, ensuring accuracy and thorough shareholder review at the upcoming AGM.

This move is in accordance with Sections 132 and 223 of the Companies Act 2017, which permit such adjustments to accommodate unforeseen delays in financial reporting and corporate governance obligations. The decision underscores the regulatory flexibility in maintaining the integrity of financial disclosures while accommodating the operational challenges companies may face.
