Pak-China Initiatives to Shape Future Generations, Says Planning Minister

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, has announced that ongoing collaboration between Pakistan and China is forging a new chapter that promises to benefit future generations.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Iqbal spoke at an event marking the Chinese Spring Festival in Islamabad. He revealed that work on two major infrastructure projects, the Karakoram Highway Phase Two and the ML-1 railway line, is set to begin this year.

The Minister highlighted that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will unlock significant opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture, IT, and tourism. This phase is expected to facilitate the development of Special Economic Zones and the modernization of agriculture, which could drive economic diversification and job creation while enhancing Pakistan’s global competitiveness.

Iqbal underscored the focus on business-to-business cooperation in CPEC’s second phase, which aims to unlock greater economic potential. He described CPEC as a symbol of enduring friendship and a roadmap for sustainable development and mutual growth for both countries and the broader region.

The Minister expressed gratitude to Chinese leadership for their support of the CPEC vision and assured that measures are in place for the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, emphasizing it as a national duty.
