Pak Mission Making Efforts to Introduce Various Aspects Of Pakistani Culture

Islamabad, September 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): For the past two and half years, the Embassy of Pakistan in Jakarta has been making an effort to introduce various aspects of Pakistani culture cuisine, life and merchandise. In this respect, the Embassy has participated in many ASEAN Food festivals in Jakarta, Bandung and Bali.

The Pakistan Embassy has held exhibitions in ASEAN Secretariat, National Gallery of Arts, Jakarta and addressed gatherings of students in five universities of Jakarta. Also, the Embassy has held a Business Forum, one business-cum-seminars of leather products, one photographic exhibition with 10 ASEAN member states and a painting exhibition. This was informed by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Indonesia, Sanaullah during a meeting with prominent businessmen here today. says a press release received here today from Jakarta.

The Ambassador said, the Mission has been of the view that much more is needed to introduce Pakistan and its products to young Indonesians and the expanding middle income population of Jakarta. In this respect, the Mission is making an effort to cultivate the trading community of Indonesia by establishing Indonesia-Pakistan Business Council, expediting ratification of PTA by Indonesian Ministry of Trade, speeding up negotiation for FTA between Indonesia and Pakistan, organizing painting and photo exhibitions in Jakarta and other cities. We have also intensified our engagement with KADIN.

As part of the above strategy, it has also been decided to organize, at least one cultural or trade related event in every 45 to 60 days. Members of the Pakistani Community and even Indonesians of Pakistani origin will be invited to assist the Embassy in this regard.

Maximum effort would be made to provide premises of the Embassy as venue and Embassy’s public relationing machinery for promotion of the proposed event. First of this activities is going to take place in the Embassy on October 22, 2012, when one Pakistani origin Indonesian would be putting up Pakistan-made carpets for exhibition.

The Embassy is also in the process of creating a hall for small exhibitions. This may take some time as it involves structural changes in the building of the Embassy as well as the approval of the Government of Pakistan. In the meanwhile, the Embassy will invite Pakistani businessmen to propose a fashion show and a bigger carpet exhibition-cum-sale show in March 2013.
