Federal Minister Urges Korangi Fisheries Harbour Authority to Boost Revenue and Operational Viability

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, directed the Korangi Fisheries Harbour Authority (KoFHA) to adopt measures aimed at increasing its revenue and enhancing its functional viability during his recent visit to the authority. According to Press Information Department, the minister’s directive came as he was briefed by Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed, Managing Director of KoFHA, about ongoing, proposed, and future projects. The briefing included plans for importing floating piers to expand the jetty, which is expected to increase the authority’s income, and upgrading the auction hall to international standards to facilitate small boats. Further revenue enhancement strategies discussed included leasing out 24 acres of land for thirty years to establish “Sea Food Factories.” A proposal to construct a boundary wall for increased security and approaching the provincial government for the setup of Rangers/Police picket was also mentioned. hermen to venture up to 200 nautical miles into the sea, pending discussions with the Sindh government, was highlighted. Minister Sheikh assured that a board would soon be constituted for KoFHA and emphasized the urgency of implementing robust revenue-generation strategies to ensure the authority’s sustainability and operational effectiveness.
