Karachi, November 23, 2015 (PPI-OT): PAJCCI has left no stone unturned to enhance bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, along with nourishing the platform for all business entities to tap the business potential across the region. The very sentiment has led PAJCCI to capitalize upon an opportunity extended by Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) – Office of General Counsel, US Department of Commerce and International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge Foundation –IWEC, USA to mobilize women entrepreneurs and develop their expertise in internationalizing their businesses.
This was iterated by PAJCCI’s Founding President, Muhammad Zubair Motiwala while meeting the delegation returned from Istanbul after successful training and networking session during the third week of November 2015. PAJCCI in its endeavours to unveil untapped opportunities has identified the significant role that can be played by women entrepreneurs across the border and in conjunction with CLDP organized Business Women’s Workshop followed by their participation in the IWEC 2015 conference on ‘Connecting Women Businesses Globally: Driving Growth Through Women’s Economic Participation’.
Jawaid Bilwani, President PAJCCI elaborated that the objective of the two-day workshop was to strengthen the competitiveness of Afghan and Pakistani business women, and to increase Afghanistan-Pakistan cross-border trade and investment. During the event more than 50 Afghan and Pakistani business women participated in business-to-business matchmaking meetings and also interacted with Turkish Chamber of Commerce for developing long-run business linkages.
The IWEC 2015 conference was inaugurated by Ruth A. Davis, IWEC Chairman / Former US Ambassador followed by thematic discussions on empowering next generation women in pursuing their global ventures, financial leadership of women, potentials in the Turkish economy, local and global opportunities and challenges, engagement with the community and local legislative bodies / advocacy. This rigorous one-week helped the delegation significantly in identifying gaps in their expertise and provided them with a chance to rejuvenate their business acumen in order to tap both local and global opportunities.
During the stay, the delegation met dignitaries including H.E. Mr. Vasip Sahin – Governor of Istanbul, Ruth A. Davis, IWEC Chairman / Former US Ambassador, Nancy Ploeger – President Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Omer Bal – Secretary General Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Tazeen Hasan – Senior Private Sector Development Specialist Women – Business and Law -World Bank Group, Joan Rosas – Head of International Financial Institutions.
The women delegates highly appreciated role of PAJCCI in identifying such international opportunity for women entrepreneurs which aided them in understanding the challenges and prospects of the emerging markets. They thanked Zubair Motiwala, Jawaid Bilwani and executive body of PAJCCI to have given them such opening.
It is vital to note that women entrepreneurs showed keenness to become members of PAJCCI for further honing their related potentials as they believed that PAJCCI in very short span of time has not only developed itself but has delivered the promises of establishing and nourishing the prospect for regional integration of businesses.
PAJCCI’s executive body also extended its appreciation to Megan L. McMillan and Arezo Yazd (representatives of CLDP) for coordinating and organizing such successful forum and intended to conduct such events in future as well.
