Pakistan and Azerbaijan Commit to Expanding Bilateral Ties and Economic Cooperation

Islamabad, In a significant diplomatic engagement, Mr. Khazar Farhadov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, met with Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, to deliberate on enhancing the multifaceted partnership between the two nations.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored the deep-rooted friendship and cooperative ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, tracing back to Azerbaijan’s independence. Minister Cheema and Ambassador Farhadov discussed the importance of advancing trade, investment, and people-to-people interactions, highlighting the potential benefits of resumed direct flights for both trade and tourism sectors.

The discussions covered the broad spectrum of bilateral cooperation under the Joint Commission mechanism, spanning trade and investment, defense industry, agriculture, energy, health, transport, banking, tourism, sports, culture, and IT. Minister Cheema reviewed the progress on the decisions made during the 7th Session of the Pakistan – Azerbaijan Joint Commission and looked forward to hosting the next session in Pakistan.

Both parties agreed on the need for immediate action to deepen collaboration across key sectors, with plans to organize Joint Working Group meetings to accelerate progress. Minister Cheema affirmed his commitment to fostering these relations and thanked Ambassador Farhadov for the productive discussion.
