Islamabad: In a significant bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and his Belarusian counterpart, Roman Golovchenko, pledged to deepen trade and investment links between their countries. The leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including agricultural machinery and connectivity, reflecting a mutual commitment to strengthen their economic ties.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Belarus as a full member of the SCO and expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to promote the “Shanghai Spirit” with Belarus. He recalled a productive meeting with President Aleksandr Lukashenko earlier in the year, emphasizing that regular high-level interactions have favorably impacted the cordial relations between the two nations. The Prime Ministers focused on tapping the full potential of their bilateral relationship, especially in trade, investment, and joint production initiatives like tractors.
Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko lauded Pakistan for the successful hosting of the SCO meeting and acknowledged the warm hospitality provided. He affirmed Belarus’s readiness to work closely with Pakistan, particularly in advancing the SCO’s goals and principles during Pakistan’s tenure as chair of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.
