Pakistan and Iran Commit to Deepening Ties and Expanding Trade


Islamabad, In a significant diplomatic engagement, Pakistan and Iran have committed to enhancing cooperation across various sectors, aiming to increase their bilateral trade to ten billion dollars.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the commitment was made during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, in Islamabad. The leaders discussed several critical issues, including operationalizing trade mechanisms and addressing regional challenges.



Both presidents also focused on pressing regional and global issues, notably the situation in the Middle East, particularly the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. President Zardari condemned the military actions in Gaza and reaffirmed Pakistan’s staunch support for the Palestinian cause.



Moreover, the leaders agreed on the importance of international efforts to end the oppression in Gaza and increase humanitarian assistance. They underscored the strong fraternal ties between their nations, rooted in shared religious, cultural, and historical bonds, emphasizing the need for stronger economic, trade, and cultural relations.



President Raisi’s visit, the first by any head of state following Pakistan’s recent general elections, was highlighted as a testament to Iran’s strong commitment to its relationship with Pakistan. The Iranian President also acknowledged Pakistan’s unwavering support for Palestine and the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
