Islamabad, Pakistan and Japan are set to deepen their trade and investment relationship following a productive meeting between Ambassador WADA Mitsuhiro and Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, in Islamabad.
According to Press Information Department, discussions focused on bolstering economic cooperation and overcoming challenges impeding business interactions between the two nations. Ambassador Mitsuhiro commended Minister Khan on his appointment and extended an invitation to Pakistani businesses to engage in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, as a platform to enhance economic ties.
Minister Khan assured support for resolving the import issues faced by the Japanese business community, advocating for a conducive environment for both local and international enterprises. He underscored the potential in sectors like automobile, steel, machinery, textiles, minerals, and IT HR for collaboration with Japan.
Further, Minister Khan introduced a five-year strategic plan by the Ministry of Commerce to simplify business procedures and attract investment, aiming to boost the trade volume, which was recorded at $1.26 billion USD in the 2022-23 fiscal year. Both parties expressed their commitment to a fruitful and balanced trade partnership, emphasizing sustainable economic growth and mutual benefits.
