Islamabad, In a significant move to bolster their bilateral relationship, Pakistan and Turkiye have pledged to increase their annual trade volume from the current one billion dollars to five billion dollars.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the commitment was articulated during a joint press stakeout in Islamabad featuring Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The leaders reviewed aspects of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, connectivity, and defense, and discussed the upcoming Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting in Islamabad.
This meeting aims to comprehensively review cooperation and strategic economic frameworks. Deputy Prime Minister Dar also expressed gratitude to Turkiye for its ongoing support on the Kashmir issue and reiterated Pakistan’s backing for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The leaders agreed on the urgent need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state to secure lasting peace in the Middle East. Fidan emphasized the strong, unshakable friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations, with plans to enhance ties in various sectors including defense, trade, investment, banking, science, technology, and innovation.
