Islamabad: Pakistan and Turkiye have taken significant steps to bolster their diplomatic and economic ties with the signing of 24 agreements, memorandums of understanding (MoUs), and protocols. The signing, which marks the conclusion of the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkiye High Level Strategic Council, was held at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a Joint Declaration, signaling a commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the agreements cover a wide range of sectors, emphasizing cooperation in defense, energy, trade, and education, among others. Notably, the two countries agreed on four MoUs to enhance cooperation in the defense sector and additional agreements to promote collaboration in power, energy, and mining.
The comprehensive scope of these agreements also includes initiatives in scientific education, banking, health, and the aerospace industry. Of particular interest are the areas of cultural cooperation and co-production, which aim to foster closer ties through shared cultural exchanges and projects.
Moreover, the Pakistan-Turkiye Business Forum contributed to the strengthening of economic relations with two MoUs aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the business sector. This move is expected to further facilitate trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
The extensive array of agreements signifies a mutual commitment to broadening and institutionalizing the strategic partnership, promising to yield benefits across multiple domains.
