Pakistan and U.S. Commit to Strengthen Economic Ties at World Bank Meeting

Washington DC, In a significant bilateral meeting at the World Bank headquarters, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Mr. Mohammad Aurangzeb and key U.S. State Department officials, Mr. Donald Lu and Ms. Elizabeth Horst, discussed enhancing the economic partnership between Pakistan and the United States, with a focus on sectors such as alternate energy, agriculture, climate resilience, and technology.

According to Press Information Department, the discussions highlighted both nations’ intent to deepen economic connections, with Minister Aurangzeb outlining Pakistan’s comprehensive reform agenda. This includes broadening the tax base, improving the energy sector’s efficiency, and accelerating the privatization of state-owned enterprises. Mr. Aurangzeb emphasized potential areas for increased American investment, notably in IT, renewable energy, agriculture, and mineral extraction. He assured that Pakistan plans to collaborate closely with U.S. financial institutions like the International Development Finance Corporation and the Export-Import Bank to facilitate these investments.
