Pakistan and UK Reaffirm Commitment to Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Stability

London: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, met with the British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, Hamish Falconer. The discussions focused on bolstering Pakistan-UK relations and enhancing cooperative efforts to maintain regional peace and combat terrorism.

According to Press Information Department, the British Under-Secretary of State congratulated Naqvi and the people of Pakistan on their Independence Day, affirming the UK’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan. The meeting covered a range of topics including regional stability and the mutual challenges posed by terrorism.

Naqvi detailed Pakistan’s upcoming initiatives, notably the second phase of Afghan refugee repatriation, emphasizing Pakistan’s role as a victim of terrorism and its security forces’ sacrifices. He advocated for increased joint efforts with the UK to address global terrorism challenges, highlighting the potential benefits of collaborative action.

The British Under-Secretary acknowledged Pakistan’s pivotal role in the Commonwealth and its contributions to the global fight against terrorism. The meeting, also attended by Pakistani High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal and senior officials from the British Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, underscored the enduring partnership between the two nations.
