Pakistan Calls on UNSC to Enforce Ceasefire Resolution in Gaza

Islamabad, Pakistan has called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take decisive actions to implement its resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, reflecting Islamabad’s ongoing concern over the conflict in the Middle East.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the appeal was made by Ambassador Munir Akram during a debate at the General Assembly on the situation in the Middle East and the use of veto powers. Akram pressed for the imposition of an arms embargo on Israel and accountability for the Israeli authorities regarding their actions in Palestine.

The Pakistani envoy also reiterated the country’s steadfast support for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations, emphasizing the need for concrete international measures to support peace in the region. Despite the UNSC’s resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, Akram voiced frustration over Israel’s failure to adhere to these international mandates.
