Pakistan Dismisses US State Department’s Human Rights Report as Biased and Flawed

Islamabad, In a forceful rejection, Pakistan has dismissed the 2023 Country Report on Human Rights Practices issued by the US State Department, labeling it as unfair and accusing it of being divorced from actual conditions on the ground.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Pakistan criticized the methodology and objectivity of the US report, stating that it uses a domestic lens to evaluate human rights in other countries, leading to politically motivated outcomes. Islamabad has taken particular issue with the report’s failure to address what it sees as critical human rights violations in regions such as Gaza and Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Pakistani government expressed deep concerns over what it perceives as double standards in the report, particularly its omission of ongoing issues in Gaza, which Pakistan describes as a “continuing genocide.” This oversight starkly contradicts the stated aims of the US human rights reports.

Despite its firm rejection of the report’s findings, Pakistan reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing its own human rights framework and continuing to engage constructively on the international human rights agenda. The statement from Islamabad calls for the US State Department to adopt a more diligent and unbiased approach in its assessments, urging it to demonstrate moral courage by truthfully addressing all situations and contributing positively to global human rights efforts.

This stance underscores a broader call for fairness and objectivity in the international discourse on human rights, as Pakistan seeks greater recognition of its efforts to uphold these principles domestically and abroad.
