Islamabad, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, emphasized his nation’s focus on enhancing the competitiveness of its products to secure a larger share in international markets. This commitment was highlighted during discussions with Grey Andrulis, the Executive Director of DC Soccer Club, in Washington DC.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Khan expressed pride in the quality and global recognition of Pakistani exports, particularly in sports goods. He noted that Pakistan produces seventy percent of the world’s soccer balls, illustrating the country’s pivotal role in the sports manufacturing sector. Andrulis praised the durability and identifiable branding of Pakistani-made soccer balls, acknowledging their high quality and timely delivery. He mentioned that even older balls, used for four to five years, maintain their usability due to their strength.
The conversation also included positive feedback from Zainab Schwartz, Chairperson of the Board of Directors at DC Soccer Club. She expressed pride in how Pakistani sports goods, like soccer balls, play a daily role in the lives of children in the Washington DC area. The club, which was founded in 1977 and boasts a membership of over 7500 kids, annually receives around 2500 soccer balls made in Pakistan.
Additionally, Ambassador Khan welcomed Schwartz’s suggestion to organize an ‘Embassy Cup’ in 2025. This event would serve as a precursor to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further promoting international goodwill through sports.
