Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that Pakistan has revealed India’s alleged malicious intentions behind the recent Pahalgam attack. Speaking at a Regional Dialogue organized by the Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad, Dar emphasized the need for international attention on the issue.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dar announced that he has instructed Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations to call for a meeting of the UN Security Council to address the escalating tensions between the two countries. He asserted that Pakistan is prepared to present facts to the Security Council members.
Dar criticized what he described as baseless allegations and unilateral actions by India, which he claimed have been politically motivated and provocative, posing significant threats to regional and global peace. He suggested that the incident in Pahalgam was an attempt by India to divert attention from its internal issues, including state-sponsored terrorism and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), while also serving domestic political aims.
The Deputy Prime Minister assured that Pakistan is committed to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He recounted an incident between April 29 and 30, where he claimed the Indian Air Force attempted an action that was swiftly countered by Pakistan’s air force, causing the Indian jets to retreat hastily to Srinagar.
Dar also addressed issues related to the Indus Water Treaty, stating that Pakistan will not relinquish its share of water and is committed to honoring the treaty. He made it clear that Pakistan will prevent any attempts to divert or halt its rightful water supply.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role in regional peace, Dar reiterated the country’s commitment to supporting de-escalation efforts. He pointed out that the unresolved Jammu and Kashmir dispute continues to fuel instability in South Asia. He called for renewed international efforts under the UN to achieve a peaceful resolution in line with Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
