Islamabad, In a recent announcement, the Pakistani government has decided to lower electricity tariffs by 3.82 rupees for April, marking a significant shift just in time for Eid-ul-Fitr. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar described this adjustment as a thoughtful gesture from the government to the consumers for the festive season.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar conveyed these details during an interview with a private TV channel. He highlighted that the primary objective of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s administration is to combat inflation. The reduction in power tariffs aligns with broader economic stabilization efforts, which, as Tarar noted, have already averted a potential default and stabilized the national currency.
Furthermore, Tarar referenced a report by Bloomberg magazine, indicating a two percent decrease in Pakistan’s inflation rate. The report also forecasts a continued downtrend in inflation for the coming year, bolstering the government’s economic strategy.
