Islamabad, Pakistan’s telecom industry is poised for evolution as the federal cabinet gives a green signal for a new framework, enabling telecom companies to share resources like antennas, cell towers, and cable ducts.
According to the announcement by Caretaker IT Minister Dr. Umar Saif, this move is expected to benefit mobile manufacturing companies and ease the introduction of newcomers to the telecom market. Further, a committee led by Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar will be instrumental in launching the high-speed 5G network. Vivo remains at the forefront, being the only 5G-ready company in Pakistan, as demonstrated by its recent launch of 5G-capable smartphones.
