Pakistan Presents Progress on Racial Discrimination Elimination at UN

Geneva: The Government of Pakistan has detailed its ongoing efforts to combat racial discrimination at the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), showcasing significant advances in human rights practices and legal reforms.

According to Ministry of Human Rights, the presentation included Pakistan’s combined 24th to 26th periodic reports, responding to themes set by the CERD Committee. The delegation, led by Mr. Allah Dino Khwaja, Secretary of the Ministry of Human Rights, Ms. Samina Zahri, Chairperson of the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights, and Ambassador Bilal Ahmad, Permanent Representative to Geneva, highlighted key initiatives such as the integration of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, conducting the first digital census, and major legal reforms. These efforts are part of Pakistan’s broader commitment to uphold international human rights standards and combat hate speech, protect the rights of minorities, and support Afghan refugees within its borders.
