Pakistan Prioritizes Fertilizer Availability for Kharif Season to Boost Agricultural Output

Islamabad, In a pivotal review meeting led by Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain for the Ministries of Industries and Production and National Food Security and Research, directives were issued to ensure the adequate supply of Urea and DAP fertilizers for the upcoming Kharif season.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting, which also included Federal Secretary of National Food Security and Research Capt (R) Muhammad Asif and Federal Secretary of Industries and Production Mr. Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry, focused on assessing the demand and supply dynamics of crucial fertilizers. With the demand for Urea expected to rise by 3.6% over the previous year, Minister Hussain emphasized the government’s commitment to agricultural development and the prosperity of farmers by ensuring the availability of necessary resources.

The Minister highlighted several measures, including the assurance of gas supplies for fertilizer plants and the mandate for fertilizer manufacturing industries to prioritize increased production. These steps are part of a broader strategy to bolster the agricultural sector, which is seen as a cornerstone for the country’s overall industrial and economic development.
