Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Human Rights in Meeting with EU Official

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to human rights in a meeting with EU Special Representative for Human Rights, Ambassador Olaf Skoog. The meeting underscored the importance of ongoing Pakistan-EU dialogue on human rights, as well as the strengthening of legislation in this domain.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dar expressed appreciation for the European Union’s continued support of Pakistan’s Generalized System of Preferences Plus (GSP+) status. This status facilitates preferential access to EU markets, which has been pivotal in fostering economic cooperation between Pakistan and the EU.

The discussions also highlighted the growing collaboration between Pakistan and the EU, not only in political and economic spheres but across various sectors. Ambassador Skoog acknowledged the positive trajectory of Pakistan-EU relations and the potential for further development of this partnership.
