Pakistan Strengthens Ties with Turkey and Azerbaijan at OIC Summit

Islamabad, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate meetings with his counterparts from Turkey and Azerbaijan on the sidelines of the 15th OIC Islamic Summit in Banjul, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors including economic, trade, energy, and defense.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the discussions with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Azeri Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, all parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepen the already strong bilateral relationships. The meetings covered various aspects of cooperation, with particular emphasis on strengthening economic ties and strategic partnerships.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar congratulated Azerbaijan on its selection to host COP 29 in Baku later this year and expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to collaborate and share experiences in combating climate change. He also voiced appreciation for Azerbaijan’s support for the cause of the people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the political alignment on key international issues.
