Los Angeles: Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh inaugurated the Pakistan-U.S. Tech Investment Conference, marking a pivotal moment for Pakistan’s IT sector with an initial commitment of over $20 million by American companies led by Pakistani-American entrepreneurs. The event, organized by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, was supported by key organizations including the Ministry of IT & Telecom and the Pakistan Software Export Board, among others. The conference, held at Stanford University, witnessed participation from IT firms, venture capitalists, tech professionals, and notable members of the Pakistani diaspora.
According to Press Information Department, the conference featured a keynote address by Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, who emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing the IT sector and achieving a $25 billion export target. She highlighted the sector’s current export achievements and the strategic initiatives in place to foster an investor-friendly environment. Ambassador Sheikh underscored Pakistan’s competitive edge in the IT sector due to its young, skilled population and invited American businesses to explore this market.
The PSEB delegation, led by its CEO, showcased 11 innovative startups, while a U.S. State Department representative expressed bilateral support. The conference also displayed projects in various tech domains aimed at generating employment and attracting foreign investment. Prominent speakers included representatives from emerging startups and tech giants, sharing success stories and insights.
Ambassador Sheikh introduced the “Digital Trinity” concept, proposing a partnership between U.S. technology, Saudi investment, and Pakistan’s workforce for mutual growth. The event underscored the strong bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the U.S., highlighting technology as a key driver for socio-economic progress.
