Pakistan Urges for Ceasefire and Dialogue in Sudan

New York: Pakistan has called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Sudan, pressing conflicting parties to engage in dialogue for a sustainable political solution. The appeal was made during a Security Council briefing focused on the “Protection of Civilians” in the war-torn nation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, emphasized that the ongoing war would only lead to further casualties and destruction among the Sudanese populace. He urged for an immediate cessation of violence against civilians and highlighted those breaches of International Humanitarian Law must cease. Akram also insisted on the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration, a framework aimed at ensuring the protection of civilians, by all parties involved in the conflict.
