Pakistani Prime Minister Engages Buddhist Leaders to Promote Interfaith Harmony

Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with a delegation of Buddhist leaders visiting Pakistan for the symposium “From Gandhara to the World,” reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to interfaith harmony and the preservation of its Buddhist heritage. The meeting highlighted the rich historical significance of Gandhara art and culture in Pakistan and explored opportunities for cultural and academic exchanges.

According to Press Information Department, the delegation, which included prominent Buddhist figures from Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, and Nepal, discussed with Prime Minister Sharif the importance of interfaith dialogue and the potential for collaboration in safeguarding and promoting Buddhist sites in Pakistan. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for their participation and emphasized Pakistan’s pride in its ancient Buddhist heritage.

The leaders appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting inclusivity and respect for diverse religious traditions. The meeting concluded with discussions on establishing a joint forum for ongoing dialogue and cooperation, aiming to foster a global culture of peace and understanding.
