Pakistan’s Carpet Industry Gears Up for Major International Exhibition

Lahore: In a concerted effort to enhance the export of handmade carpets, invitations have been extended to international buyers for the 41st International Handmade Carpet Exhibition, set to take place this October. The event aims to draw global attention to Pakistan’s renowned carpet industry.

The announcement was made by Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman, Chairman of the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA), and Vice Chairman Riaz Ahmed. They reported a strong local response, with 45 stalls already booked in advance. This enthusiasm is bolstered by close collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to ensure the exhibition’s success.

The details were shared during the fourth Zonal Committee meeting at the PCMEA office, attended by key figures including Patron-in-Chief Abdul Latif Malik and Chairperson of the Carpet Training Institute Ejaz-ur-Rehman. The meeting also discussed participation in the forthcoming Shenzen exhibition.

To encourage international participation, buyers are being contacted through formal invitations and phone calls. Upon arrival, foreign guests will receive a comprehensive hospitality package, underscoring the exhibition’s importance to the country’s carpet sector.

PCMEA leaders expressed optimism about securing significant export deals during the event, which is expected to enhance the industry’s global standing. However, the meeting also addressed concerns regarding recent Federal Board of Revenue regulations, deciding to engage with APTMA and FPCCI for a coordinated response.

According to the PCMEA, these efforts underscore the strategic importance of the exhibition in promoting Pakistan’s handmade carpet industry on the world stage.
