Pakistan’s Defence Minister Commits to a World Free of Terrorism

Islamabad, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif declared Pakistan’s dedication to establishing a world devoid of terrorism and extremism, outlining a comprehensive strategy during a seminar held in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Asif detailed the adoption of both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches aimed at eradicating terrorism from its roots. He highlighted the severe impact of extremist activities on the nation’s social cohesion, peace, and harmony, emphasizing that Pakistan has been at the forefront in the battle against terrorism despite significant human and economic costs.

The Defence Minister underscored the critical need to eliminate extremist propaganda and dismantle recruitment centers to foster a peaceful society. He stressed that mobilizing social forces and building societal consensus against extremism are essential for achieving sustainable peace.

Minister Asif praised the effectiveness of the National Action Plan, National Internal Security Policy, and the National Counter Extremism Policy Guidelines in reducing the operational scope for terrorist organizations. He advocated for confronting extremist ideologies directly as a means to foster a culture of mutual care, well-being, and appreciation for diversity.

Furthermore, the Minister highlighted the importance of promoting cultural, linguistic diversity, and religious harmony as key elements in projecting a positive and enlightened image of Pakistan and fostering peace within the country.
