Karachi: In a move aimed at propelling Pakistan towards a cashless economy, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with Zindigi, powered by JS Bank, has launched the country’s first Cashless Bazaar at the H-9 Sunday Market in Islamabad. This initiative aligns with the vision set forth by the Prime Minister and the State Bank of Pakistan to promote digital transactions.
The inauguration was attended by key figures including Muhammad Ali Randhawa, CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad; Noman Azhar, Chief Officer Zindigi; and other senior officials from the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and the State Bank of Pakistan. The project facilitates digital payments for both customers and merchants through Zindigi P2M merchants’ Raast QR codes, enhancing financial inclusion.
The H-9 Sunday Market, known for its wide range of products and affordability, serves as one of Islamabad’s major commercial centers. The market’s transition to digital payments is expected to streamline transactions and attract more visitors seeking convenience.
Ali Randhawa emphasized the significance of the Prime Minister’s cashless vision, stating it is crucial for sustainable economic growth. He highlighted Islamabad’s role in leading this transformation, with plans to implement Raast QR codes and digital payment solutions across the city.
Noman Azhar from Zindigi expressed the company’s commitment to redefining financial interactions through public-private partnerships. He noted that the cashless bazaar is a step toward offering secure and seamless transactions to citizens.
The event was attended by a range of government officials and representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan, reflecting widespread support for this digital shift. The initiative is viewed as a benchmark for other regions aiming to adopt similar cashless solutions.
