Pakistan’s Remittance Inflows Reach Historic High of $38.3 Billion in FY25

Karachi: Pakistan has achieved a record in its remittance inflows, with the fiscal year 2025 witnessing overseas Pakistanis sending home a total of $38.3 billion. This represents a 27% increase compared to the previous year, as detailed in a recent report by JS Global.

In June 2025 alone, the country received $3.4 billion in remittances, marking an 8% rise from the same month last year. Analysts attribute this growth to increased confidence in the stability of the Pakistani Rupee, bolstered by stricter foreign exchange regulations. These measures have improved the monthly remittance run rate, which rose from $2.5 billion in FY24 to $3.2 billion in FY25.

A notable factor in this uptrend is the significant rise in emigration, especially to Saudi Arabia. Remittance inflows from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia saw a 33% year-on-year increase. Although there has been a slowdown in labor exports to the UAE recently, any improvement in this area could further enhance remittance flows.

The report underscores the critical role of remittances in supporting Pakistan’s economy, particularly in stabilizing its foreign exchange reserves and providing a buffer against economic challenges. The continued growth in this sector may offer a silver lining amidst broader economic uncertainties.
