Peshawar: A crucial one-day consultation was held at Serena Hotel focusing on the execution of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAP-BHR) for the period 2021-2026. The meeting brought together provincial government stakeholders and representatives from a broad spectrum of private businesses to discuss strategic implementations under priority areas two and three.
According to Ministry of Human Rights, the event was a collaborative effort with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Pakistan, marking a significant step in addressing human rights within business practices across the province. The Department of Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Human Rights provided insights into the progress of the Provincial Steering Committee on NAP-BHR implementation. Discussions also centered on the Human Rights Due Diligence Framework, which has been adopted by both the Inter-Ministerial and Inter-Provincial Steering Committees on Implementation of NAP-BHR. The framework was thoroughly examined and received unanimous support for its implementation from all attendees.
The gathering underscored a unified commitment among stakeholders to advance human rights considerations in business operations, highlighting collaborative efforts to ensure compliance and accountability within the corporate sector in line with international human rights standards.
