Karachi: The Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns from October 15 to November 30, 2025. The association cites ongoing technical difficulties with the IRIS portal and delays in the issuance of the tax return form as the reasons for the request.
In an official statement, PCDMA Chairman Salim Valimuhammad pointed out that the current deadline is impractical given the procedural and logistical hurdles taxpayers face. He noted that technical glitches and frequent slowdowns in the FBR’s IRIS portal, compounded by internet disruptions, are significantly hampering the process of submitting returns.
Valimuhammad argued that extending the filing deadline would alleviate the burden on taxpayers who are experiencing genuine constraints as they attempt to meet their legal obligations. The PCDMA’s appeal comes amid widespread difficulties businesses and individuals encounter while navigating the portal’s issues, exacerbated by the late notification of the tax return form.
The association has called on the FBR to swiftly address these concerns and grant the requested extension to ensure compliance without imposing undue stress on taxpayers.
