Peshawar Health Minister Cracks Down on Absent Medical Staff

Peshawar, In a decisive move to enforce accountability and improve healthcare services, Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah has initiated a crackdown on medical staff absent from their duties. Following the Minister’s directive, the Directorate General of Health has issued final notices to fifteen dental surgeons who have been absent for over three years, signaling their impending dismissal.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister Shah emphasized the critical role doctors play as caretakers of public health and warned that those neglecting their responsibilities would face strict disciplinary actions. The Health Minister’s stance reflects a commitment to upholding the standards of healthcare provision and ensuring that medical personnel are present and accountable.

The minister’s directive extends beyond dental surgeons, targeting any medical staff across health centers who fail to comply with biometric attendance systems. This measure aims to address the growing concerns regarding the availability of medical staff in health facilities and ensure that the public receives timely and effective healthcare services.

Furthermore, District Health Officers (DHOs) and Medical Superintendents (MS) have been instructed to monitor and ensure the attendance of their respective teams rigorously. This step is crucial in guaranteeing that healthcare services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are delivered efficiently and without unnecessary delays.

The Health Minister’s actions signify a clear message that the healthcare system in Peshawar will no longer tolerate absenteeism or negligence among medical staff. This initiative is part of broader efforts to reform and improve healthcare services in the province, ensuring that all citizens have access to quality medical care.
