Physically disadvantaged need our support: Governor Sindh

Karachi, February 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): Governor Sindh Mr. Mohammad Zubair has said that physically disadvantaged persons are an integral part of our society and as such we must all encourage and facilitate them to become useful citizen of our society. This he said while addressing at Computers, Certificates, Financial Assistance and Braille Books distribution Ceremony, organized by Amigos Welfare Trust for Blind at Governor House here today.

He said that there is an immense need to create awareness about problems of blind people and Amigos Welfare Trust is doing an admiring job in this regard. The trust is a role-model for other such organizations of the country, he added. He lauded the establishment of online digital library and the website of the Trust which are great source for blind persons to hear and download the books including text book required to continue their studies.

Printing Press for transcribing and printing books is a great contribution by the Trust, he also added. While appreciating the computer training institute he said that blind persons can learn to operate computers with the help of screen reader. He said that philanthropists and donors who are extending financial assistance to the trust are praise worthy and all contributing donors deserve our special gratitude.

He assured that he would extend all possible help and assistance for welfare of blind persons and pledge full support to them, in solution of their problem. He also assured for implementation of 5% quota for disabled persons, so as to accommodate them in government jobs.

President of the Trust Mr. Anwar Masih informed Governor Sindh about the activities of the Trust. He also informed that as many as 9 blind employees of local Government have been regularized due to the efforts of Justice Help Line and its President Mr. Nadeem Shaikh advocate. He further said that a petition for employment of 61 highly qualified blind persons has been filed in the High Court.
