Police Actions Block Muslim Voters in Uttar Pradesh Elections

Lucknow, Reports have emerged of police using force to prevent Muslim voters from casting their ballots during the third phase of the ongoing seven-phase parliamentary elections in Uttar Pradesh, a state governed by the BJP.

According to Kashmir Media Service, police actions in the Sambhal Lok Sabha constituency included lathi charges and the confiscation of ID cards and voting receipts, particularly targeting Muslim voters. Social media and local reports have circulated videos showing the aggressive police tactics, which have sparked widespread outrage and claims of voter suppression.

The Samajwadi Party has highlighted the severity of the police behavior through various social media posts, including footage of injured voters and disrupted polling processes. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav condemned the police actions and emphasized the need for the Election Commission to ensure a fair electoral process.
