PPL Boosts Gas Processing Capacity in Sindh with Gambat South Upgrade

KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has successfully increased its gas processing capacity at the Gas Processing Facility (GPF-II) in Gambat South Block, Sindh. This enhancement marks a significant achievement for the company, which holds a 65 percent stake in the block alongside partners Government Holdings (Private) Limited and Asia Resources Oil Limited.

Originally commissioned in 2016 with a capacity of 50 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of raw gas, the GPF-II was previously optimized to handle 55 MMscfd in 2021-22. The latest improvements have further increased its capacity to 60 MMscfd, achieved through optimization of the Amine sweetening process using a proprietary additive.

The capacity boost has resulted in an additional production of approximately 5 MMscfd of gas, 35 barrels per day of condensate, and one metric ton of LPG. These enhancements were accomplished without any hardware modifications, reflecting PPL’s focus on cost-effective resource maximization.

The milestone underscores PPL’s commitment to improving domestic hydrocarbon output through efficient and innovative processes, benefiting stakeholders and contributing to the country’s energy sector.
