Prime Minister Sharif Vows to Eradicate Polio in Pakistan

Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to eradicating polio from Pakistan, emphasizing the role of international collaborations and diligent national efforts in combating the disease. This commitment was articulated during his meeting with a delegation from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, including Dr. Christopher Elias from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister directed the launch of a comprehensive awareness campaign in partnership with the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. He also discussed the recent donation of five hundred million dollars from Saudi Arabia to the initiative, announced at the World Economic Forum, and highlighted the critical importance of Pakistan-Afghanistan cooperation in ensuring the eradication of polio from the region. Members of the delegation briefed the Prime Minister on the current progress and challenges of the anti-polio campaign in Pakistan.
