Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Advocates for Strengthened Pak-Tajik Trade and Connectivity

Dushanbe: In a significant diplomatic push to enhance bilateral ties, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for increased trade, investment, and connectivity between Pakistan and Tajikistan. The call was made during a joint press conference with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, highlighting the need to deepen cooperation across various sectors.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister discussed the importance of the strategic partnership agreement signed between the two countries, emphasizing its role in fostering closer ties and mutual prosperity. The agreements, covering sectors such as agriculture, education, health, and trade, are seen as pivotal in expanding the relationship between the two nations.

Prime Minister Sharif also underscored the potential of rail connectivity extending from Tajikistan through Afghanistan to the port of Karachi, which could significantly enhance regional trade flows. Additionally, he noted the expected completion next year of the CASA-1000 project, which aims to bring prosperity to the region by enabling energy trade.

On security matters, Sharif reiterated both countries’ commitment to combating terrorism, acknowledging the sacrifices made by both nations. He also condemned the ongoing violence in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Gaza, calling for a resolution in line with UN Security Council resolutions to ensure peace in South Asia.

The visit, marked by warmth and strategic dialogues, reflects a mutual desire to elevate Pak-Tajik relations to new heights, with further cooperation anticipated in the near future.
