Abbottabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminate smuggling and strengthen Pakistan’s economy during a visit to the family of a martyred customs inspector on Wednesday. The visit highlighted the government’s initiative to transform Pakistan into a peaceful and economically robust nation.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif visited the Abbottabad home of Shaheed Customs Inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi, who was killed in an anti-smuggling operation in Dera Ismail Khan. The Prime Minister, along with Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar and Amir Muqam, offered condolences and presented a cheque from the Shuhada package to the inspector’s family.
During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif expressed his determination to wipe out smuggling to save billions of dollars for the country’s development. He emphasized that this effort requires close coordination between the Interior Ministry and provincial governments, and acknowledged the Pakistan Army’s role in combating this challenge.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to Inspector Tirmizi, declaring his sacrifice would not be forgotten and recognizing him as a national hero. Additionally, he detailed the Shuhada package benefits, which include significant financial support and welfare provisions for the families of martyrs, aiming to provide both immediate relief and long-term security.
