Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Highlights CPEC’s Role in Pakistan’s Development

Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has articulated the transformative impact of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on the nation’s development, describing it as a crucial milestone.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in an interview with the China Media Group, Prime Minister Sharif lauded the One Belt One Road initiative by Chinese President Xi Jinping as a pivotal project for global peace and prosperity. He emphasized the significant role of Thar’s coal reserves in enhancing Pakistan’s energy security by providing a cost-effective alternative to imported fuels, thereby saving the country billions of dollars. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude towards China for its substantial investments in CPEC, which is now advancing into a new phase focused on Business to Business collaborations. Further, he mentioned forthcoming agreements with Chinese firms to bolster Pakistan’s agricultural sector with Chinese expertise, hopeful for ongoing support from Chinese leadership.
