Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has detailed the government’s proactive approach to enhance the telecommunication sector in Pakistan, emphasizing initiatives to expand speedy internet access to remote areas and further digital advancements.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister expressed these commitments while meeting with a delegation from Veon Jazz Group, led by Sir Brandson Lewis, in Islamabad. During the discussions, he highlighted the critical contributions of Veon Jazz Group to the national economy and its role in strengthening telecommunication linkages within the country.
Prime Minister Sharif also appreciated Veon Jazz Group’s involvement in the Digital National Summit and its support for the Digital Pakistan Initiative, which aims to transform the economy into a paperless and digitally-driven environment. The delegation from Veon Jazz expressed enthusiasm for the initiative and commended the Prime Minister’s vision for a digital economy.
The government’s strategy includes taking specific measures to ensure the provision of high-speed internet across the less accessible regions, addressing one of the crucial barriers to digital inclusivity in Pakistan.
