Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, has advocated for stringent waste management measures to preserve the fragile ecosystem of Deosai National Park. Her remarks came during a meeting with Honorary Ambassador for Wildlife, Sardar Jamal Khan Leghari, highlighting the pressing need to address solid waste challenges and improve park management to ensure the park’s sustainability and biodiversity.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Romina proposed banning disposable plastic items within the park and emphasized the importance of educating tourists on environmental conservation. Sardar Jamal Khan Leghari shared insights from his recent visit to the park, pointing out the significant revenue generated from tourism and recommending infrastructure improvements such as road maintenance and enhanced wildlife protection staffing. These suggestions aim to bolster both access and ecological preservation efforts at Deosai.
