Prominent Kashmiri Activist Mir Sirajuddin Passes Away in Baramulla

Srinagar: Mir Sirajuddin, a respected pro-freedom activist known widely as Dawood Sahib, passed away today following a heart attack in the Tangmarg area of Baramulla district in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Sirajuddin’s funeral was attended by a large crowd from various communities, reflecting the broad respect he garnered through his activism. He was buried in his hometown of Tangmarg amid expressions of grief and remembrance from those gathered to pay their respects.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has expressed profound sorrow over the loss of Sirajuddin. JKLF spokesperson Mohammad Rafiq Dar, speaking from Islamabad, highlighted Sirajuddin’s vital contributions to the Kashmiri freedom movement. A special prayer meeting and Quran recitation to honor his memory is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, in Upper Chhatar, Muzaffarabad, following the Asr prayers.

Dar commended Sirajuddin for his dedication to the cause of Kashmiri self-determination, ensuring his legacy in the movement will endure. The community mourns a figure celebrated for his lifelong commitment to their collective aspirations for freedom.
