Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafi Hussain Reviews Punjab Skills Development Authority Operations

Lahore, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, the Provincial Minister of Industry and Commerce, made an official visit to the Punjab Skills Development Authority (PSDA) to assess the progress and operations of the institution dedicated to enhancing the region’s technical education standards. The visit highlighted the government’s commitment to upgrading educational facilities and implementing a new skill policy for the province.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Minister Hussain discussed the advancements being made in technical education, including the upgrading of laboratories to international standards. He announced that a draft of the new skill policy has been prepared and is slated for review and approval at the next provincial cabinet meeting. Once approved, this policy will formally be implemented, marking a significant step forward in structuring the technical education sector in Punjab.

During his visit, Minister Hussain emphasized the importance of increasing enrollment in technical institutions to bolster the workforce with highly skilled professionals. He also noted that efforts are underway to streamline the registration processes within PSDA, moving towards a fully digital system to enhance efficiency and accessibility. The Director General of PSDA provided a briefing on the current status, indicating that over 1100 institutions have now been registered under the new system, reflecting a move towards more robust and transparent governance of educational establishments.

This visit underscores the provincial government’s proactive approach in fostering an environment that supports the development of skilled labor, crucial for economic growth and industry competitiveness.
