Lahore: Punjab Police successfully extradited a fugitive wanted for attempted murder from Germany, marking a significant achievement in their intensified efforts to apprehend criminals residing abroad. The operation was led by the Special Operations Cell of the Punjab Police following directives from Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, to crackdown on high-risk fugitives.
According to Punjab Police, Harman Zaman Bhutta, the extradited individual, was apprehended with the assistance of German authorities after being wanted by the City Jalalpur Jattan Police in Gujrat since 2023. Bhutta faced charges for the attempted murder by shooting a person and was tracked down through an Interpol red notice. Upon his deportation, he was taken into custody by a Gujrat team of the Punjab Police immediately upon arrival at the airport.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar praised the efforts of RPO Gujranwala Tayyab Hafeez Cheema and DPO Gujrat Munstansar Atta Bajwa, urging further actions to capture A-category dangerous fugitives. He emphasized the collaboration with the FIA and Interpol as crucial for ensuring that such fugitives face the law in Pakistan.
