Rajasthan Medical College Teachers to Take Mass Leave Over Pay Disparities

Jaipur: Approximately 700 teachers from 17 government-run medical colleges across Rajasthan have declared their intention to take mass leave in protest of pay disparities and exclusion from the Rajasthan Service Rules. This collective action underscores their dissatisfaction with the state government’s recent decisions regarding salary regulations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the educators, who are employed by the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES) an autonomous body of the state government are currently subjected to the society’s service rules, which they find inequitable compared to the broader Rajasthan Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules. They have been actively campaigning for the adoption of these more favorable civil service rules by RajMES.

Dr. Rajendra Yadav, vice president of the RajMES RMCTA welfare society, highlighted the issue, noting that while the government’s recent state budget announcement to adopt the Rajasthan Civil Services Rules within RajMES was initially met with approval, it soon became clear that these changes would only apply to teachers appointed on or after August 1, 2024. This revelation has led to significant discontent among the existing faculty, prompting the planned mass leave.
