Remittances Surge in Pakistan, Reaching $16 Billion in Five Months

Karachi: Remittances to Pakistan have reached $16.1 billion in the first five months of the fiscal year 2026, marking a 9% increase from the previous year. In November 2025 alone, the country received $3.2 billion in remittances, maintaining the same year-on-year growth rate.

The United Arab Emirates has shown a notable resurgence in remittances. In November 2025, the UAE’s share rose to 21%, up from 18% in the fiscal year 2024. This increase is attributed to a steady rise in inflows from Pakistani expatriates, particularly in Dubai, following some easing of emigration restrictions.

Remittances are crucial for stabilizing Pakistan’s external accounts, consistently counterbalancing the trade deficit. As external financial pressures continue to emerge, the importance of these inflows becomes increasingly significant.

The data, released by JS Global, underscores the pivotal role of remittances in the country’s economic framework.
