Rescue 15 introduces system to block undesirable calls

Islamabad: The Help line of Islamabad police- Rescue 15 has introduced `Computer Telephony system’ to block prank or undesirable calls, avoid wastage of time on unnecessary calls and ensure timely assistance to the deserving and distressed persons in case of any emergency.

The formal inauguration of this latest system was made by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan in a ceremony here at Rescue 15 who was also briefed about its salient features and utilization. Acting SSP Mir Vais Niaz, SP Ishaq Warraich, ASP Shakir Ahmed Shahid, Country Manager Time Zone Technology (TZT) Hassan Mughal, SHO Aabpara police station Khalid Mehmud Awan and other police officials were also present on the occasion.

The IGP said that people made hoax or useless calls which only caused wastage of time and perturb policemen in performing their duties at Rescue 15. He said that purpose of launching this system was to block such callers and reach to the distressed persons in time who make genuine calls to Rescue 15 in case of any difficulty.

This system was launched in collaboration with TZT and Country Manager TZT Hassan Mughal briefed IGP in detail about the functioning of this system. Mr. Hassan Mughal said this system has Human Resource Management tool which elaborates that how much calls have been received by a single duty official.

He said that other important features of this system are call blocking, call recording, call monitoring, crime reports collection and TZT has also collaborated to run this system in Lahore, Taxila, Murree and Rawalpindi.

The IGP also listened to various calls and was told that 2926 calls were received during last 24 hours out of which 1843 calls were bogus. He was told by Mr. Hassan 74 numbers were blocked after their repeated efforts to make bogus calls to Rescue 15.

The IGP appreciated this effort and hoped for its better output in future. He said several public welfare projects have been initiated at Rescue 15, adding that such projects will be expanded in future.

Bani Amin Khan said that response time of Rescue 15 is four minutes and this system will ensure timely help to the people.

Talking to media men on the occasion, the IGP said that untiring efforts of Islamabad police have secured the city from mischievous elements. He said the efforts are underway to curb car theft incidents and notorious car receivers as well as thieves have been arrested in collaboration with other districts police.

He said that `Stolen Vehicle Identification System’ has been introduced at Rescue 15 and one can confirm about the genuineness of a vehicle by sending a message at `8521′.

The IGP said that Computer Telephony System maintains all call log (call time, calling no, call date etc) and it can monitor live phone call from anywhere in the world through internet, mobile phone or land line (cod be provided).
