Senate Debates Presidential Call for Political Reconciliation in Islamabad

Islamabad, The Senate today initiated a debate on the recent Presidential address to the Joint Sitting of Parliament, focusing on President Asif Ali Zardari’s appeal for political reconciliation and the necessity for a unified approach to resolve national challenges.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan People’s Party Senator Sherry Rehman opened the discussion by endorsing President Zardari’s call for an end to confrontational politics. She emphasized the importance of turning a new page to effectively navigate the country through its current challenges. Senator Khalil Tahir echoed this sentiment, advocating for consensus on critical national issues and urging an end to the politics of anarchy to prioritize economic improvement. Senator Ali Zafar from the treasury benches highlighted the need for cooperation between the treasury and opposition in legislative matters, calling for thorough discussions on legislative issues before their passage in the House.
