Sialkot, August 19, 2023 (PPI-OT): Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Malik, President Chamber, Mr. Wahub Jahangir, Senior Vice President along with Mr. Amer Majid Sheikh, Vice President, and Executive Committee of SCCI issued a strong condemnation of the recent incident that unfolded on August 16, 2023, in Jaranwala, where local churches were set ablaze by a mob. This shocking act of violence has drawn deep concern from the business community of Sialkot, highlighting the fragility of communal harmony and the need for immediate action to maintain law and order.
The Office Bearers of SCCI expressed their heartfelt condolences to the affected community and stressed that this incident was in sheer contradiction to the principles of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for all religious beliefs that Pakistani society upholds.
In response to this disturbing incident, the Office Bearers of the Sialkot Chamber called upon the Federal Government, the Punjab Government, and the various Law Enforcement Agencies to take stern action against the culprits. They demanded a thorough and swift investigation to identify the culprits responsible for this act of violence and to bring them to justice. The President Chamber stressed that accountability was essential to restore faith in the justice system and prevent such incidents and that all necessary measures be taken so that this should not happen again in the future.
Recognizing the diversity that strengthens the nation, the President Chamber emphasized the importance of fostering respect for all religious beliefs to maintain social cohesion and promote economic growth. He also stressed the significance of effective security measures and rapid response strategies to prevent future incidents of this nature.
